Gaithersburg, MD – Following the chaotic conclusion of the League of Women Voters Candidates Forum on Sunday, where Neil Parrott launched aggressive accusations at April McClain Delaney before abruptly leaving the stage, Maryland’s elected officials are united in condemning Parrott’s behavior and questioning his fitness to represent Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

“Once again, Neil Parrott put his extremism on full display at last night’s debate,” said Senator Chris Van Hollen. “We need leaders like @April4Congress who will actually fight for the people of #MD06 and work across the aisle to get things done in Congress.”

Senator Ben Cardin echoed the sentiment, saying, “Stunning. There is a reason Neil Parrott runs and runs but doesn’t win. Differences over policy and legislative record are fair game. But Marylanders understand that civility is crucial today and always. @April4Congress gets it.”

The Maryland Senators are the latest to respond to footage showing Parrott angrily accusing McClain Delaney of distorting his record from his time in the Maryland House of Delegates. Since the forum, numerous Maryland elected officials and voters have voiced their shock at Parrott’s conduct, while also challenging his false claims.

“We’ve heard there has been some controversy and confusion around Neil Parrott’s voting record while serving in the MD House of Delegates,” said Maryland House Democrats. “With 28 days left until Election Day, we are highlighting 28 votes that Neil took in the House to help set the record straight.” These votes, taken directly from Parrott’s record, demonstrate his opposition to vital issues such as benefits for low-income seniors, Red Flag Laws, and improved standards for animal shelters — an extremist agenda he seems eager to conceal in his third bid for Congress.
